Welcome to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the immense disaster and suffering it brought to the lives of the people of New Orleans, we are a growing ministry determined to make its mark in the long-term rebuilding of not only our homes and churches, but to also support and develop the entities that minister to areas of injustice that exist in our great city. We are a church that has been richly blessed and desires to give back that which we have received and been transformed by. With pride and determination, we do not want the grace we have received to be in vain.
We hope you will come and join us in our mission to care for those who are still in need of healing and hope. Whether it be for a day, week, or for the unforeseeable future, we hope you will help us be the church in this time and place of great need. If you are interested in knowing more about how you can come and volunteer to help rebuild New Orleans, contact our Coordinator for Community Development, Caitlin Moen. Caitlin will gladly provide assistance for whatever needs you have to make your servant experience as meaningful as possible. We can provide lodging and a worksite for anyone ages 14 years and up.
If you are visiting, we hope you will take in our Sunday worship service at 10:00 AM and come celebrate the grace of God we know to be our Savior, Jesus Christ. We celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion every Sunday.
Our website is loaded with updates, stories, and images of our recovery, our exciting ministry, and of your presence as the face of Christ in our midst. We hope you will take time to scan what we have gathered as a reminder of the compassion of the church at its best.
