The May 2026 recipient of our Chuck it in the Bucket collection is EPIC NOLA (Early Psychosis Intervention Clinic in New Orleans, LA) Before 2015, no such program existed for people experiencing first time psychosis. Research shows that the earlier one gets treatment for this serious mental health condition, the better the outcome. The outreach arm of this clinic is CALM, (Clear Answers to Louisiana Mental Health) which provides accurate information about psychosis especially, the first episode. The goal is to decrease the duration of untreated psychosis in our communities by increasing awareness about psychosis and getting people into care quickly.
Patients may be eligible to participate in the EPIC- NOLA program if they are:
* Between the ages of 12 and 35
* Have been experiencing psychosis for less than 3 years
* Have received a diagnosis of schizophrenia or other psychotic disorder
* Willing to be evaluated and treated by healthcare professionals
