Dear friends,
We are already half-way through Advent! And now I am thinking about Christmas Eve and wanting to share some things with you.
Some things you should know:
1 - We will have one service at 5pm. This service will be in person and online.
2 – Everyone is invited to bring a nativity scene/creche from their home that will be used to enhance our worship. If you bring one, please arrive a little early and have it set up by 4:45. Or bring it on December 19 and leave it at the church to be set up.
This will not only be beautiful, but will serve as a visual reminder that Jesus comes to people throughout the world, and we all imagine him a little differently. At home, I have nativity scenes from Peru, France, Mexico, Israel, Kenya, and a variety of states in this country. They stretch my imagery of the Christ child.
3 – I will plan for a special time with the children if there are children present. If you are planning to bring your children, grandchildren, or neighborhood children, please let me know.
4 – The service will include candlelight and communion.
And before then: Don’t forget that we will have outside carol singing the next two Sundays at 5pm. This week will be at Lakeview Presbyterian, one block from Grace toward the lake. December 19 will be at Grace. I love singing Christmas carols with others. Hope you will too!
May each moment of your Advent be marked by the promises of the prophets, and your Christmas full of the songs of the angels!
Grace and peace,
Pastor Kim
